The  Laramie County Sheriff's Department & Detention Center  is located at 1910 Pioneer Avenue. The sheriff of Laramie County is Danny L. Glick.  To obtain information about an inmate, call (307) 633-4700 for an automated response system. For information on Records Division, call (307) 633-4800 during normal business hours. Call (307) 637-6524 for non-emergency assistance from Cheyenne Police or Laramie County Sheriff's Department.

 The Detention Center is a modern facility and is the best in the state of Wyoming, if not the entire region. The jail is open 24 hours a day to serve the public! The jail can house up to 324 inmates if necessary. There are 8 "pods" (cell blocks), and also separate quarters for male and female inmate laborers. The Sheriff's Department building was constructed in 1989 after the old jail was torn down and had just gotten too small to serve the needs of Laramie County.  In 2002 an addition was built onto the current building. There is a kitchen, laundry area, dining room, staff offices, briefing rooms and training rooms making this department ultra modern to meet the needs of Laramie County. On the second floor of the building is where the pods are located as well as an infirmary staffed 24 hours a day. Mental health counseling is available 24 hours a day.
 
 The Central Booking Section is the "hub" of the jail, meaning that all intakes and releases are done here. The booking process includes obtaining all pertinent information on an inmate, including name, birthdate, tattoos, birthplace, SSN, current charges and an inventory of property and any money is done at this time. Your photograph is taken as well as your fingeprrints. The deputies and civilians who work in the jail are dedicated professionals who are highly trained in security and the operation of the Detention Center.
